GHB50 – Turrell Hall Oelsnitz
Becoming Part of the Light – Barrier-Free
Since November 2025, visitors to the Turrell Hall in Oelsnitz have been able to permanently experience an important work of contemporary light art: “Beyond Horizons 2025”, a Ganzfeld installation by the world-renowned American artist James Turrell.
To ensure barrier-free access to this unique art experience for everyone, a specially manufactured platform lift of type GHB50 was integrated. In its resting position, the lift disappears completely and almost invisibly into the floor. Only when the “up” button is pressed do the fall-protection barriers extend from the floor and the platform moves safely to the upper landing.
Another design highlight is the flush-mounted custom-made door. It blends seamlessly into the wall—without visible hinges or door operators—thus preserving the room’s clear architectural and artistic impact.
